Finding Passion in Unexpected Places

When I was a teenager, I had this unusual talent—I could give psychic readings with startling accuracy—and even though I did this in exchange for money and sometimes food, when my stubborn adolescent quest for independence landed me flat broke. I never saw it as a viable career – it was always too weird.

Like many, I felt lost in a haze of uncertainty and anxiety, haunted by the possibility of making a “wrong” choice. That feeling of being behind, of watching others thrive while struggling to find my path, was overwhelming.

“I had to look back at the core of what sparked joy for me.”

I revisited childhood photos and saw myself as this expressive kid, always creating something, imagining characters, pulling my brothers into imaginative games.

I jotted down anything that felt meaningful—geology at first, followed by the supernatural, parapsychology, eventually film and finally hair—the latter two seeming the most conventional and aligning with what I envisioned myself doing (that’s where it all starts, you have to see yourself doing it.! Only more recently have I realized how much I let all of these passions come together naturally.

This exercise transformed my fear of uncertainty into excitement, a reminder that joy could be a guide. Within five years, I was working confidently on a film set as a hairdresser, fulfilling a dream of working for major networks such as Netflix, Disney+, Marvel (before Disney got em’!), Universal Pictures, Amazon, Hulu..

My career highlight was a series called “Schmigadoon 2!” on Apple+, with actress Dove Cameron.

She advocated a trust fall in life more than anyone, as she had found even more success on the other side of transforming vulnerability into strength (something Capricorns are notorious for btw). We waxed everything supernatural, psychological, hair and film. It felt like a hot summer camp working at the circus with Addams family kin. We wrote each other goodbyes on post-its. She made me cry, in the best way- for being truly seen.

It was the beginning of a new chapter, and it taught me that the universe rewards those who dare to trust themselves.

Never Too Late for Change

One story that will always stick with me came from a client I had while working in a salon. She was a woman in her late 40s, getting her hair done to celebrate her husband’s graduation.

Years before, they had been at a comedy club when the comedian asked her husband what he did for a living.

Her husband, an investment banker, didn’t want to be roasted for his profession, so he joked, “I make toy giraffes for a living.” Of course, the comedian roasted him anyway—but the comment hit him harder than expected, making him question what he was doing with his time, his legacy, and his contribution to his family.

This seemingly simple moment sent him into a spiral of depression, as he reconsidered everything.

After days spent in isolation in their basement, he emerged with a revelation:

“I know what I’m supposed to be! I want to be a doctor.”

At the time, his wife was pregnant with their second child, and though she was concerned, she was supportive. He enrolled in medical school at 40 years old, fully committed to this new path. Today, he’s a successful oncologist, helping people every day. It’s honestly never too late to start over.

Embracing the Psychic Shift

After ten years in the film industry, I felt the pull to pivot again. This change felt even scarier, as my sense of identity had become intertwined with my role and any peers I shared this with would ask; “What are you going to do?”, which added an unexpected layer of uncertainty. I knew I wanted to be there for people, to work with clients, to honor the paranormal insights I receive, and write full time.

The shift began with a moment of clarity while driving to work one morning. Frustrated and lost, I found myself asking aloud,

“What should I be doing with my life?”

I needed a sign, a direction, something that would finally click.

That day, I was doing hair for Toni Collette, an actress I deeply admire. At one point, she asked me if I could give her a psychic reading, and I agreed. The reading touched her, and as she processed what came through, she looked at me and said, “You need to do this for a living.” Instinctively, I replied, “I don’t know, it’s pretty weird!” She laughed, saying, “Acting is pretty weird, but here we are. You should do it!”

Curious about what a tarot reading with me entails? Here’s everything you need to know.

“It didn’t fully hit me until later, on the drive home, that she had just given me the answer I was seeking that morning.”

Her words echoed in my mind, and it felt as though the universe had answered my question through her. In that moment, everything clicked. I knew it was time to commit to my psychic path – and strangely enough, from the iconic actress who portrayed the Mom from the film The 6th Sense.

Within a week, I launched my website, started sharing my journey on Instagram, and took my first steps toward a career as a psychic medium. Although the idea of being on camera made me uneasy, I embraced it as part of my new path. What began as a simple question asked aloud on a drive to work had become a calling I couldn’t ignore.

Steps to Find Your Purpose with Psychic Wisdom

If you’re in the midst of a career change or feeling unsure about your life’s purpose, here are some steps I found transformative:

  1. Ask yourself the big question: Write down “What should I be doing career-wise?” and let that question sit with you. Don’t rush to answer it immediately; instead, live with it and notice what comes up intuitively over time.
  2. Transform fear into curiosity: Start by listing everything that brings you joy, even if it seems unrelated to a career. Think of foods, colors, experiences, places, and people that resonate deeply with you. This list taps into your subconscious mind, which often holds the answers our conscious minds overlook.
  3. Trust your intuition and look for signs: Sometimes, signs appear in the most subtle ways. Look back at old photos, revisit childhood memories, and let these glimpses remind you of the unfiltered passions that existed before societal pressures took over. Your younger self may hold wisdom for the person you’re meant to be today.
  4. Take the leap: Trust the process and jump into the unknown, even if it feels unconventional. Consistency, commitment, and wonder will open doors when the time is right. Even if it’s not financially rewarding at first, a labor of love will eventually bring abundance.

Your purpose may reveal itself slowly, in stages, as you commit to trusting your instincts and taking steps in the direction that feels right.

When you’re willing to let curiosity replace fear, to lean into intuition, and to uncover what sparks joy, you’re laying the foundation for a life filled with meaning, fulfillment, and a purpose that resonates deeply.
